Classroom spotlight!

Butterfly class 🦋
Seats: 10
Teacher: Mrs. Casey
Age: 2/3 potty training class

Mrs Casey has been with Little Lexington Academy for years! She started and ran our infant class, trained up and helped grow our toddler program and has taken over our butterfly class. She LOVES a good theme and holidays, any reason to celebrate!
She organizes creative activities that allow the children to explore and create using all their senses, imagination and creativity. Our butterfly class can always count on a fun and learning filled circle time, educational small group activities, stimulating free play and lots of dancing to their favorite songs (sometimes on repeat 🤪).

Kindergarten Prep (K-Prep)
Teacher: Ms Alexis
Seats: 12-14

K-Prep is designed to get our pre-K kids that are going to kindergarten the following school year classroom ready! This class works on classroom and lunch room table etiquette, table/desk work, proper pencil and scissor hold, learning to spell and write their names, recite the alphabet without singing, counting properly and general
Kindergarten preparedness.

This class has a strong focus on making lessons challenging and fun at the same time. A lot of art projects, science experiments and manipulative play to really spark that love of STEM. 🧪

The teacher is Ms Alexis. She’s been with LLA for years and has worked with kids for many more years! She has a wonderful, creative and fun demeanor while also making sure the kids are learning and developing. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and isn’t afraid to get down and silly with the kids. Ms Alexis love’s squishmallows, crocs (and croc charms), Harry Potter and is quite the artist.

“We can’t quit. We have someone else’s childhood in our hands.” 💕

The days can be loud, hard, busy and stressful but they are also filled with silliness, laughter, hugs, cuddles and learning.

Our infant class is designed with calm colors/visuals, soft flooring, multi textured play spaces and lots of sensory experiences.
Infant class operates on an individual/personalized schedules to meet the needs of each infant at their own developmental stage.

Teacher: Ms Tyria

Our chrysalis classroom is designed with small group activity centers that focus on teaching individual creative play as well as small group, cooperative play. This classroom specializes in a lot of hands-on learning, with activities such as dot painting, arts and crafts using a variety of textures and supplies, sensory activities and experiences, science, language arts, and learning through peer interactions.

Ms Tyria has a love for children. She loves watching them learn and experience new things and enjoys being that teacher that can make these experiences happen. She is creative, fun and creates a classroom that is welcoming to all.
Ms Tyria loves incorporating Montessori style teaching/classroom centers.

Preschool

Teacher: Ms Michelle

Our preschool classroom is designed for 3 year olds with flexible play centers to focus on small group play as well as fosters individual play/activities.

Ms Michelle comes from a background that started in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys putting together themed lesson plans that not only engage the children while learning but also involve all aspects of learning (sensory, art, literacy, play, fine motor, science etc).
