Boardman Schools Reverse Raffle Set for March 7 –
Tickets Available Now
Boardman, OH-- The Boardman Schools Fund For Educational Excellence 10th Annual Reverse Raffle Event will be held on Friday, March 7 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center. Twenty-four grant recipients representing 11 wish list projects will be honored as part of a night of fun and fundraising.
The Reverse Raffle is the main fundraiser for BSFEE, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. The event raises tens of thousands of dollars to help provide Boardman educator grants that have been creative and innovative additions to Boardman classrooms for more than a decade.
“We are so excited that through these fundraising efforts over the years, we’ve granted more than $150,000 in classroom materials and equipment to give our Spartans experiences that go beyond what is provided by state and local funding,” said BSFEE Board President Matt Gambrel . “Our Raffle helped fund projects including 3D printing equipment, sensory equipment including everything for a sensory path, 2 portable AED’s, physics sensor bundles, cameras, art wacom tablets, phonics and reading centers, and a mat cutter for high school art exhibition .”
Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Mr. Anthony’s. There will be many prize-winning activities as well as a series of cash prizes given away during the course of the evening. The final ticket drawn at the end of the night will be worth $2,000!
Tickets are $70 and are available by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 330-726-3404, emailing [email protected], or finding the invitation on BSFEE’s website at boardmanschoolsfund.com. Reservation deadline is February 19.

Heartfelt Thank You!
On behalf of the Boardman Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence and all of our incredible teachers, we extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who generously donated to or attended our Reverse Raffle and dinner.
Your support has made a profound impact on the education of our students. Thanks to your kindness, our teachers were able to secure over $21,000 in grants to fund a wide range of exciting initiatives, including:
-Technology integration
-Sensory paths
-Hands-on science and math learning
-Reading aids
-Tablets for enhanced digital art creation

These grants will provide our students with innovative tools and resources that will enrich their learning experience and foster a love of knowledge.

Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence Welcomes New Board Members
Boardman, OH-- The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence (BSFEE) welcomes five new members to its Board of Directors, including the district's new Superintendent Chris Neifer, Betsy Slater, Laura Olivier, Heather Chunn and Cameron Cooke-Murphy.
Superintendent Neifer is in his 29th year in education with experience as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. He replaces former superintendent Tim Saxton who retired over the summer.
Betsy Slater is the parent of two Boardman alumni and comes to BSFEE as a community volunteer. She was actively involved with PTA and BBOP (Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents), holding officer positions in both organizations. She has recently retired from being the director of children’s ministry at Old North Church in Canfield.
Laura Olivier is the parent of two Boardman graduates. Since 2012, she has been the Director of Finance for OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science & Technology. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Youngstown State University and a B.A. in Communication from the University of Dayton.
Heather Chunn is a proud parent of a 2022 Boardman graduate and current sophomore at BHS and is a member of the BHS Swim and Dive Boosters. She is the Vice President of Operations and Human Resources at the Youngstown State University Foundation.
Cameron Cooke-Murphy grew up as a second-generation Boardmanite. She is a 2013 Boardman High School graduate and a recent member of the Boardman Lions Club as well as the Boardman Schools Fund For Educational Excellence Board. In 2019, she earned her Bachelor of General Studies degree with the track of Public Management at Youngstown State University. She and her fiance, Mike, recently purchased a home in Boardman.
The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence is a non-profit organization that awards teachers grant monies for classroom projects that go beyond the scope of those funded by the school’s educational budget. Thanks to the generous support of the Boardman community and the Boardman Education Association, they have awarded more than $125,000 in grants since the group’s inception in 2009.

On behalf of BSFEE, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our 9th Annual Reverse Raffle and Dinner last night in any capacity.
Your generosity will enable us to keep granting our teachers financial support for projects that will improve the educational opportunities for our kids in the Boardman Local Schools.
We are grateful to live in a community that values both the educators who work with our children and their students.

Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence Welcomes New Board Members
Boardman, OH-- The Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence (BSFEE) welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors: Heather Belgin and Anissa Kalbasky.
Belgin is a proud parent of two sons currently in the district, and is a member of the Boardman Track and Cross Country Boosters, serving as secretary for the past three years. She is the Director of Alumni Engagement at Youngstown State University.
Kalbasky is a past PTA president with a son and a daughter in the district. She is a marketing specialist and graphic designer with JPAR Real Estate.
