I Ms. Lam School- 年貨 DIY I

IMs. Lam School- 師訓分享I

Each academic year, we regularly hold teacher training sessions. This time, we invited Ms. Zhuo, a trainer from the International Montessori Association, to help our teachers review and refresh their knowledge, deepen their understanding of Montessori principles, and enhance their on-site management skills.

Through these training programs, we aim for our teachers to continually grow in their professional knowledge and practical experience, achieving personal and professional development.

I Ms. Lam School- 篩豆子 I

Sorting beans with a spoon is an advanced version of the activity.
Not only does it require scooping up the beans, but it also involves using the wrist to shake the spoon.

What seems like a simple motion is actually quite challenging for children, as controlling the angle while shaking isn’t easy.

The hands are shaking, the eyes are watching—this is yet another display of focused hand-eye coordination.

I Ms. Lam School- 冬天玩水趣 I

Don’t think these are summer photos!

At our school, even in the chilly winter, children can happily enjoy playing in the SPA pool.

The pool is perfectly heated, ensuring the water temperature is just right, so the kids can have endless fun.

I Ms. Lam School- 小蝌蚪成長日記 I

On our farm, we caught a few tadpoles and brought them back to the classroom. We set up a cozy little home for them so we could observe their transformation into frogs.

The kids were super dedicated to observing them every day, always checking for changes:
“Will their front legs or back legs grow first?”
“Are they swimming faster today?”
“What have they been eating?”

Every week, we changed their water and cleaned their tank. Finally, one day, one of the tadpoles turned into a frog! The kids were beyond excited, like they had just discovered a new world. They became even more curious, wondering where the frog might hide or what it might do.

But since frogs are wild animals, we eventually took it back to the farm on one of our visits and released it back into its natural habitat.

Thank you, little frog, for giving us the chance to observe and learn about the amazing process of metamorphosis up close!

IMs.

Recently, Ms. Lam School invited the “Flying Elephant Mobile Library” to visit.

This mobile library is filled with “second-hand children’s books” donated by both adults and children from all over Taiwan. It regularly travels to remote towns, villages, and schools across the island, spreading the joy of reading and sharing love with every child.

Through this initiative, we hope to help more people experience the beauty of books and the power of knowledge!

IMs.

Picasso once said, “Doodles are a form of creative expression for kids. Their thoughts and feelings come to life through their scribbles. Kids use bold colors and strong strokes to express their joy, anger, sadness, and happiness.”

This quote is so profound. Every child is a natural-born artist. But as adults, how can we ever learn to paint like a child again?

IMs. Lam School- 小黃帽I

Have you ever spotted little yellow hats in the Taipei area? Our footsteps can be found at major attractions, our laughter echoes in every corner, and we leave behind a lasting impression of our dedication and passion for learning.

In the parks, we run and jump, releasing our energy; in art museums, we soak in the essence of creativity; in science museums, we explore knowledge beyond the classroom; on mountain trails, we build physical strength and resilience; and even on elementary school sports fields, we practice relay races, honing our teamwork skills.

Every outdoor adventure in our little yellow hats is more than just a fun outing. It’s an opportunity for gross motor development, an extension of life experiences, a cultural immersion, an artistic nourishment, and a spark of scientific curiosity. At the same time, it reflects the Montessori principle of older children caring for younger ones—a real-life practice that nurtures independence and cooperation. These experiences form unforgettable childhood memories.

The next time you see us, don’t forget to say hi with a big smile!

IMs.

This workshop is different from our usual lecture format—we’ve designed a hands-on food preparation experience.

We invited parents of current students to participate personally. Through hands-on practice and detailed guidance from our teachers, classroom food activities were transformed into delicious meals that can be recreated at the family dining table.

In fact, food preparation activities aren’t limited to the classroom. Parents can also encourage their children to participate at home, helping them develop life skills and independence through hands-on practice.

One of the highlights of this event was the professional sharing by our lead teacher. Additionally, the older students took on the role of “little teachers,” guiding parents step by step in food preparation activities. Their thoughtful guidance and demonstrations added even more fun and interaction to the experience.

IMs. Lam School- 結I

This is a skill that has existed for a long time, representing beginnings, twists, endings, and connections.

Can you guess how old a child needs to be to perform such an action? Or, at what age can a child decide which type of knot to use for different tasks?

“Tying knots” is a highly challenging motor skill. How many types of knots do you know how to tie?

IMs.

When the classroom is equipped with a variety of materials, children use their hands to turn the imaginative ideas in their minds into wonderful works of art.
Through creativity, they create unique styles, and the pure charm of their art shines in that moment.
Every color tells a story that belongs to them alone.

IMs.

Recently, the PTA in Tianmu had the honor of inviting Dr. Li-Ping Tsai, a distinguished pediatrician from Taipei City Hospital for Women and Children, to deliver an enlightening lecture. Dr. Tsai’s presentation offered parents valuable insights into understanding and supporting their children’s critical growth milestones.

With a remarkable professional background, including research in human genetics at UCLA, Dr. Tsai is a highly respected expert in pediatric care. During the session, Dr. Tsai emphasized the scientific standards for annual growth in children and highlighted the significant role of proper nutrition in promoting healthy development.

This lecture provided not only essential knowledge but also empowered parents with the confidence and tools needed to actively support their children’s growth journey.

IMs.

One day, a little child excitedly ran toward the teacher and exclaimed, “Look! I made a duck out of building blocks. Here are its beak and tail!” The teacher leaned in to take a closer look and realized it was the child’s unique vision of a little duck!

The most delightful part was that the child not only enthusiastically shared their creation but also paid close attention to every little detail of the duck. The pointed beak and the long tail were all meticulously constructed with the blocks.

This was not just a display of creativity but a perfect blend of the child’s observation skills and imagination. Ordinary building blocks came to life with these thoughtful touches, as if they had gained a life of their own!

IMs.

Every academic year, Principal Ms. Vivian hosts a series of special lectures at our four campuses. These sessions aim to help new parents gain deeper insight into the philosophy and practical methods of Montessori education while inspiring them to view their children’s growth and learning from a fresh perspective.

“Human Tendencies” is a core concept in Montessori education. Unlike the “Absorbent Mind” of the 0-6 age group, human tendencies are traits that exist throughout one’s lifetime. In this lecture, Ms. Vivian shared insights from Mario Montessori’s booklet Human Tendencies, guiding parents on a journey back in time to the ancient world. She illustrated how survival instincts, shaped by uniquely human tendencies, paved the way for the creation of modern civilization. Through this lens, parents can better understand their children’s developmental potential.

Highlights from Parent Feedback:

“The development of humanity mirrors the growth of children. Humanity has evolved through observation, imagination, and action (work) to solve problems and overcome challenges. Parents should embrace the process of their children’s growth, allow them to make mistakes, and enable them to gain experience and build resilience. This will prepare them to not only adapt to the world but also to change the course of human history.”
