Hi everyone.
Today we are going to talk about " *don't mind* " and " *doesn't matter* ".
The verb mind means *dislike, be annoyed by objet to* .
It follows by *ing* and often used in negative and questions.
Eg : Do you *mind* open the windows?
- No, I *don't mind* .

*I don't mind*

If someone says that *I don't mind,* it means that " *I have no preference"*
*I'm happy to this to happen.*
However, the verb *matter* in English can mean " *be important* "
*English matters* means *English is important*
If we say " *it doesn't matter* ", it means that *it isn't important, it isn't significant.*
Eg: Do you want tea or coffee?
*- It doesn't matter.*

Sometimes, they can both mean the same thing.
Eg: Do you want chicken for dinner?
- *I don't mind* / *it doesn't matter (* to me)

Hello!

Let’s talk about the tenses!

Maybe you studied them at school?

Your first experience was those endless verb tables.

You desperately repeated 'put, put, put' to yourself, as well as the other 200 irregular verbs in the test.

Every year, you revisited the present simple (hello, old friend!).

The teacher taught the information and then you did an exercise or two and that was all.

There wasn't really much proper practice.

The tenses seemed confusing and illogical.

And now?

You're finally confident with the present simple, but you don't study the more advanced structures.

You feel a bit nervous when you use the present perfect and you wonder if you should use the present perfect continuous.

You try to remember the rules for the past perfect, but it’s too much to think about during a conversation.

You use the same few tenses again and again and you know you’re not expressing yourself well.

After all those hours of study, you feel like you *should* have a proper, advanced command of the tenses and be able to drop beautiful sentences with an elegant and expressive future perfect continuous or past perfect!

But you still don’t feel really confident.

The good news is, English tenses are much more logical than you think!

When the whole system is clearly explained, you start to see patterns and things make sense.

And proper practice (NOT just verb tables!) is the key to being able to form beautiful correct sentences that flow out of your mouth without effort.

This is why I’m hosting a special class next week just on Everyone’s English Enemy: Tenses, and how the tenses can actually be really easy and logical!

You’ll also be able to ask me any questions - without judgement! - so you can start feeling more confident in your English faster.

Hot summer day

It’s a hot summer day and Jake and Harry are working hard in the garden. Their friend
Ralph is sitting under a tree and drinks a cold drink. Jake asks Harry, “Why are we
here in the hot sun when Ralph is sitting there?” Harry says, “I don’t know, I will go
ask him.”
Harry goes to Ralph and asks him, “Why are you sitting here and drinking a cold
drink and Jake and I are working in the hot sun?”
Ralph says, “Because I have smarts.”
“What is smarts?” asks Harry. Ralph puts his hand in front of the tree and says, “Hit
my hand very hard.” Harry tries to hit Ralph’s hand but Ralph moves his hand and
Harry hits the tree. He feels great pain.
Ralph says, “I moved my hand away. I showed you that I have smarts.” Harry goes
back to Jake and Jake asks him, “What did he say?”
Ralph says, “It’s because he has smarts.“
“What’s that?” Jake asks. Harry puts his hand in front of his face and says, “Hit my
hand!”

Joe about the bed
Peter goes to a doctor, “Doctor, I have a problem,” he says.
“When I sleep in my bed, I think that there is somebody under my bed. I look under
my bed and I think there is somebody on my bed. On, under, on, under. I think that I
am crazy!”
The doctor thinks for one minute. Then he says, “Come to me for 2 years. Come here
three times in a week and I will help you.”
“How much will I pay?” Peter asks.
“One hundred dollars for a visit,” the doctor says.
Peter says, “I will think about it.”
Peter never comes back. After two weeks, he meets the doctor on the street.
“Why didn’t you come to visit me?” the doctor asks.
“One hundred dollars for one visit? It is expensive for me. A barman helped me for 10
dollars.”
The doctor doesn’t understand, “What did he do with you?”
“He told me to cut the legs of the bed.”

Hello everyone!

For today's mini lesson, let's talk about 'as long as'. 'As long as' often means the same as 'if' or 'only if'. We often use the present tense after 'as long as' when we're talking about the future, in the same way as with other subordinate clauses of time. We sometimes use the present perfect tense after 'as long as' to show that one future thing must happen before another future thing.

You can have chocolate as long as you promise to eat all your vegetables.
She can go to Cambridge as long as she has passed her exams.
